The first days of creation

Today we looked at the first three days of creation. It's amazing to think about God's creative power displayed in such a way, calling in to being what is not, simply speaking things into existence.

  1. Did I hear you right when you said that no one can read Hebrew? I must of played your sermon 3 or 4 times and thinking did Pastor Ed really say that or am I just imagining it. Just so you know, I do read and write Hebrew.

This is what I can across when reading out of my Hebrew Bible. At the end of verse 5 where it says one day. In Hebrew it says yom echad, yom meaning day and echad meaning one, but why did it say echad and not echat which means the number 1. Then it dawned on me. echad means the oneness of G-d. So this phrase can be rendered to say "the day of the One and Only".

As for the length of the day. Dose it really matter. As you said there's no mention of the length of the day, just as there's no mention of the angles, mountains or deserts being created, yet they are there. The emphasis should be on G-d speaking and it was done, not on how long or how it was done. Maybe G-d didn't want us to know.
